Where these numbers come from

Under the STOCK Act a House member reports a purchase, sale or exchange of stocks, bonds and other securities over $1,000, by the member, a spouse or a dependent child, within 45 days. The Clerk publishes each report as a PDF. For e-filed reports the table is machine-readable and we list every row: the asset as the filer named it, the ticker if the form carries one, the transaction type, the trade and notification dates and the amount range (members report a range, never an exact figure). A report filed on paper and scanned is linked but not read. So far 345 of 387 member reports are read, 42 are scans. Senate reports live in a separate system and are not here yet.
