SEIU also worked closely with Congresswomans office on press conference as she reintroduced these bills on April 29, 2026. Meeting with Senate HELP Committee to talk about Large Dialysis Providers duopoly and learn more about Senate oversight of this industry. Meeting with House and Senate Democratic Offices, minority staff of House Budget Committee, Ways and Means Committee, minority staff of House Energy and Commerce Committee, and minority staff of Senate Finance to discuss GOP Waste, Fraud and Abuse Narrative to scale back Medicaid and childcare dollars. Meeting with Rep. Schakowsky office in support of reintroducing Nurse Staffing Standards for Hospital Patient Safety and Quality Care Act. Meeting with Kassandra Navarro (Sen. Blumenthal) and email to Mike Dunn (Rep. Larson) to discuss SEIU position on any revisions to Essential Caregivers Act (S. 3492/H.R. 6766). Prepped SEIU Members and supported Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) Shadow Hearing on lowering healthcare costs. Meeting with Rep. Simon aide to discuss SEIU healthcare and childcare priorities.

Meeting with minority staff of House Oversight Committee in opposition to Stopping Fraudulent Payments Act (H.R. 8464) and Fraud Prevention and Accountability Act (H.R. 8312). We also raised alarms with staff about Pre Payment Fraud Prevention and Treasury Data Access Act (H.R 8463) and Timely and Accurate Benefits Act of 2025 (H.R. 1755). We also sent a letter widely to all House Members to alert them to oppose H.R. 8464 and H.R. 8312, and for further congressional scrutiny of H.R. 8463 and H.R. 1755.

Agriculture

The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 (H.R. 7567) - Lobbied against the passage of this bill. Addressed the negative impact this bill will have on merit staffers and the concern for the exclusion of SNAP language in this bill.
