Budget/Appropriations

Met with S.C. Congressional delegation staff to discuss FY25 Continuing Resolution and its impact on the university's research priorities. Also met with staff to discuss our FY26 DOD research priority requests.

Education

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss impacts of proposed budget cuts to federal agencies on the university and higher education institutions.

Energy/Nuclear

Met with S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss CU's strengths in electrical grid security research specifically the capabilities that exist at our energy innovation center.

Agriculture

Met with S.C Congressional delegation to discuss the university's strengths in agricultural research and partnerships that we have in rural S.C.

Defense

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss and show how the university is working directly with the Department of Defense on relevant research.

Sports/Athletics

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss the need for federal legislation related to a national standard for NIL and college athletics.

Animals

Met with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss our new College of Veterinary Science which will take our first class in 2026. Discussed opportunities for research and partnerships with USDA and other federal agencies.

Health Issues

Discussed the university's strengths in health/medical related research with Members and staff of the S.C. Congressional delegation. Also, discussed the importance of indirect costs related to this research.

Science/Technology

Discussed NSF related university research proposals with staff from the S.C. Congressional delegation.

Immigration

Met with staff from the S.C. Congressional delegation to discuss impacts of potential changes to immigration/visa policies at the federal level.

Veterans

Discussed with staff from the S.C. Congressional delegation issues related to VA tuition payments being processed in a timely matter for our student veterans.
