Taxation/Internal Revenue Code

Westwin is pushing to preserve the 45x Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit established under the IRA. HR 1 - the One Big Beautiful Bill Act includes a provision to sunset the credit which poses direct harm to the domestic critical mineral manufacturing industry. We are working to overturn the sunset and either restore the exemption for critical mineral production or extend the full credit value until 2034.

Tariff (miscellaneous tariff bills)

Industry is seeking tariffs on imports of class 1 nickel products with exemptions for ex-chinese and ex-russian production from Canada. Additionally, we are working to maintain the duty free import of nickel intermediate products which are the required feedstock for domestic nickel refining.

Trade (domestic/foreign)

Westwin is seeking the establishment of critical mineral agreements with mineral rich allied nations to support the trade of nickel and other critical minerals vital to ensuring a domestic critical mineral supply chain free of FEOC influence and reduce US dependency on adversarial controlled supply.
