Support of US Mexico Canada Agreement. The importance of trade for U.S. businesses and jobs. Opposing proposed termination of the Tomato Suspension Agreement. Raising awareness about the possible negative impacts of tariffs and duties on U.S. companies and consumers.

Homeland Security

Updated design standards for Customs and Border Protection ports of entry to retrofit dock spaces with cold inspection areas. Support to include language in a Department of Homeland Security funding bill asking the agency to review how to retrofit existing port of entry docks on the southern border with enclosed inspection areas. Support of Department of Homeland Security Proposed Budget to increase Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations Personnel.

Agriculture

Increased CBP staffing to protect perishable agriculture trade items. Improving CBP ports of entry to maintain cold chain for perishable agriculture trade items. Discussing possible changes to existing USDA grade standards for table grapes to improve the standards and take info account changing grape varieties in the market place.

Food Industry (safety, labeling, etc.)

The need to enclose CBP dock spaces for inspections to protect food safety of agriculture products. Asking the Food and Drug Administration to reinstate the Office of International Engagement, Regulatory Cooperation and Partnerships (OIE/RCP). OIE/RCP played a vital role in collaborating with foreign competent authorities to ensure that foods imported into the U.S. met the highest safety standards
