During the reporting period, no advocacy was conducted on specific legislation or formally introduced bills. Advocacy efforts were focused on administrative and regulatory considerations in coordination with the office of Congressman Messmer and, through that office, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). These efforts centered on contracting policies and procedures applicable when a provider transitions out of small business set-aside eligibility. Specifically, advocacy emphasized the importance of the VA undertaking a comprehensive evaluation of alternative contracting options, including the consideration of cost-saving measures, continuity of services, and overall system efficiencies. Particular attention was given to ensuring that any contracting decisions support the continued provision of reliable emergency medical services and do not negatively impact veterans access to care.
