● Contact White House staff regarding possible beneficial adjustments to the H2B Visa program for the seafood industry; contact Hill staff for assistance on work force immigration concerns
● Provide Client with ongoing analysis & strategic advice to engage Congress and USCG on regulations related to U.S. citizenship crew requirements on fishing vessels; and on use of Starlink communication requirements
● Inform Client of ongoing ad hoc coalition effort to oppose executive action designed to curtail commercial trawl and menhaden fishing and require forage fish management, including a nationwide industry letter sent to the President ● Participate in Hill staff discussions on MSA/ESA/MMPA reforms; provide ongoing MMPA reform recommendations as part of developing/refining draft legislation; oppose the transfer of protected species management authority from NOAA to USFWS ● Inform Client of pending legislation related to fishery disaster reform; provide information on GAO fishery disaster study and related congressional activity ● Monitor federal agency activities and legislation related to IUU fishing and forced labor in the seafood industry; report on NOAA MMPA comparability findings ● Monitor Offshore Wind developments, related EOs, and track BOEM activities
