Know Your Vets Act

This bill requires the Department of Defense (DOD) to ensure that a separating or retiring member of the Armed Forces may elect to have DOD form DD-214 transmitted to the appropriate county veterans service officers (i.e., county, local, or tribal employees who assist veterans with Department of Veterans Affairs interactions). DOD must also maintain a database of such officers.

Form DD-214 contains a member's record of service and information that may be used for veteran's benefits, retirement, employment, and veteran's organization membership.
