First Step Act of 2018

This bill makes changes to various aspects of the criminal justice system.

Among other things, the bill does the following:

  • modifies federal sentencing provisions,
  • establishes a risk and needs assessment system at the Bureau of Prisons, and
  • reauthorizes the Second Chance Act of 2007.
