Meetings with Rep. Doggett Office and Minority Staff of the Senate Finance Committee to discuss legislation in support of Biden era CMS Nursing Home Staffing Rule, and continued Administrative and Congressional efforts to weaken or eliminate rule.

Budget/Appropriations

Advocating for workers, families, as part of the regular budget process. S.3548, HR 748, HR 6074, HR 6201, HR 5371, S. 2210 Meetings, letters, briefings and recommendations to the entire House and Senate after passage of Budget Reconciliation (i.e., H. Con Res. 14, S. Con Res. 7, H.R. 1) and discussions on implementation and further legislation to curb cuts/changes to Medicaid authorized after passage of bill. Meetings with Members of Congress in both the House and Senate in support of legislation to extend ACA Tax Credits (i.e., H.R. 5145, H.R. 247, S. 46) and repeal cuts in H.R. 1 (H.R. 4849, S. 2556).

Labor Issues/Antitrust/Workplace

Work to support the Protect Americas Workforce Act (H.R. 2550 and Senate counterpart). Work to oppose NLRB nominees and the American Franchise Act H.R.5267 Consultation with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez legislative staff and House Education and Workforce Minority Committee Staff on introduction of legislation to rescind DOLs proposed rule related to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for domestic service employees. Meetings with Minority staff of the Senate HELP Committee to discuss SEIU Committee of Interns and Resident priorities, Doctors Council priorities, and United Health Care Workers West Priorities. No specific legislative requests was made to staff or Senator Sanders, and an overview of these SEIU locals was shared with the Ranking Members staff.

Health Issues

Meetings with minority staff of House Ways and Means, House Energy and Commerce, Senate Finance Committees and health staff for Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Sen. Chuck Schumer in opposition to H.R. 2199/S. 4750, the Restore Protections for Dialysis Patients Act. Also assisted, escorted and advocated with SEIU Members organized with United Healthcare Workers West in opposition to this legislation during their advocacy fly in on November 18th and 19th where they spoke to House and Senate Members. Follow up Meetings and advocacy email to all Senate Dems in support of Union endorsement of a Senate Resolution and CRA legislation introduced by Senators Wyden, Markey, King in support of expressing the sense of the Senate that the Secretary of Health and Human Services should withdraw a proposed reduction in public notice and comment opportunities; and subsequent conversations with Senate Offices urging their co-sponsorship of CRA resolution of disapproval to reverse the Richard Waiver. Consultation with staff of Rep. Debbie Dingell, and supported introduction of H.R. 5228, HCBS Workers Protection Act of 2025 and revisions as they draft HCBS Access Act in 119th Congress. Lobbying for an extension of the ACA premium tax credits in H.R. 1834 and additional vehicles.

Meetings and work to support S.3039 - True Shutdown Fairness Act

Meetings regarding opposition to reduction in force, budget cuts, and oversight at the VA.

Immigration

Advocating for workers and families affected by ICE overreach.

Sports/Athletics

Meetings opposing bills excluding college sports players from being classified as employees (SCORE ACT, HR 4312)

Advocating for democracy reforms that make elections more transparent, get more people involved in the political process, and expand voting rights.
