Issues impacting privacy, technology, and civil rights, including artificial intelligence, algorithmic auditing and data minimization, artificial intelligence labeling, artificial intelligence assessments and high-impact harms, internet regulation, CDA 230, commercial surveillance, biometric technology, facial recognition technology, data ownership and diversity, and data integrity attacks and responses (including data privacy and security framework). Additional advocacy in support of the Eliminating Bias in Algorithmic Systems Act, the Algorithmic Accountability Act, the Algorithmic Justice and Online Platform Transparency Act, the Fourth Amendment is Not for Sale Act. Advocacy in support of comprehensive privacy legislation. Specific advocacy against potential legislation regarding court-sealed FBI surveillance files of civil rights leaders during the 1960s. Voting rights and election modernization, including supporting the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act/restoring the Voting Rights Act, the Washington D.C. Admission Act, the Time Off to Vote Act, Sustaining Our Democracy Act, Voters on the Move Registration Act, Unhoused Voter Opportunity Through Elections (VOTE) Act, Election Mail Act, Youth Voting Rights Act, Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act, Expanding the Voluntary Opportunities for Translations in Elections Act, the Eliminating Bias in Algorithmic Systems Act, and the Securing Elections from AI Deception Act. Artificial Intelligence and Voting Issues generally, including Deepfakes and electioneering. Legislative approaches for Mis- and Disinformation in voting, and to address voter suppression and election subversion. Criminal justice reform, including police reform, access to justice, and facial recognition/biometric/artificial intelligence (AI) technology in law enforcement. Support for the Mental Health Justice Act, the Breaking the Cycle of Violence Act, the EQUAL Act, and the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act. Advocacy against cuts to appropriations for federal public defenders. Hate crimes advocacy, including advocacy in support of full implementation and enforcement of hate crimes laws, resources for impacted communities, and improved data collection. Advocacy against the Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education (Improving Education Outcomes by Empowering Parents, States, and Communities).
