Monitor legislation and issues regarding the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act.
Monitor availability of FY25 Funding for Ports and Waterways and certain federal grant programs administered by the U.S. Maritime Administration. Issues related to the FY25 National Defense Authorization Acts. (H.R. 2670 & H.R. 8070).
Monitor issues related to MARAD infrastructure programs and funding levels of MARAD infrastructure programs in FY25 National Defense Authorization Act and THUD Appropriations bills . Monitor funding levels for US Army Corps of Engineers dredging and navigation projects in the FY25 Energy & Water Appropriations bills. Issues related to introduction and advancement of legislation expanding eligibility of Capital Construction Funds for acquisition of cargo handling equipment. Monitor and track development of comprehensive maritime legislation- the Shipbuilding and Harbor Infrastructure for Prosperity and Security for America Act (SHIPS Act).
Issues related to PIDP, BUILD, and RAISE grants. Monitor enactment and implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (P.L. 117-58) and Inflation Reduction Act (P.L. 117-169) and track potential cuts or delays in awards. Issues related to the repeal of limited MTO anti-trust immunity under the Shipping Act. Work with members to reintroduce a bill to expand the MARAD Capital Construction Fund for purchases of cargo handling equipment at U.S. ports. Issues related to draft bipartisan, bicameral SHIPS Act and the full-year fiscal 2025 continuing resolution (H.R. 1968).
