Family issues/Abortion/Adoption

Discussed authorization of infant and toddler court teams which are integrated within the child welfare system. Advocated for children in the child welfare system when discussing Reconciliation package and the strain cuts to Medicaid and SNAP will put on the system. Hosted a Hill event named Strolling Thunder where we brought 50 families to Capitol Hill to discuss family/ infant and toddler related issues such as the importance of Medicaid, SNAP, infant and early childhood mental health services, early intervention, access to affordable and quality child care, the importance of child welfare programs, etc.

Education

Early education and intervention - lobbied for funding towards CCDBG, child care related funding within SSBG and TANF, and Head Start/ Early Head Start. Continue to Support: PROSPECT Act Child Care Takes a Village Act Child Care Access & Affordability Act Child Care Workforce Act Expanding Child Care Access Act of 2025 Building Child Care for a Better Future Act

Budget/Appropriations

Appropriations: Advocated and submitted appropriations requests for - Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health grants, Project LAUNCH, Early Childhood Development Experts Grants, Transforming Pediatrics in Early Childhood grants, Infant and Toddler Court Programs, Head Start/ Early Head Start, and IDEA Part C. Lobbied against harmful changes to Medicaid and SNAP within the reconciliation package.

Taxation/Internal Revenue Code

Lobbied in support of the expansion of the child tax credit and the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit. Advocated for better Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit provisions within the reconciliation package. Continue to Support: American Family Act

Continue to Support: Build Housing with Care Act

Medicare/Medicaid

Reconciliation: Lobbied against cuts and harmful changes to Medicaid within the reconciliation package.

Reconciliation: Lobbied against harmful changes to Medicaid, SNAP, and CTC that targeted immigrants. Also lobbied against harmful immigration detainment policies within the reconciliation package.
