Appropriations and policy matters affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including support for the ENERGY STAR program at the Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); investment in critical grid infrastructure and electrical equipment through DOE programs; and congressional and agency recognition of NEMAs "Make It American" initiative. Activities included advocacy regarding funding levels for DOE and EPA programs relevant to NEMA members, related report language, and legislation including the CIRCUIT Act (S. 448/H.R. 4128).

Energy policy and infrastructure issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA) reform; critical minerals programs; domestic and international energy-related supply chains; transformer production and supply chain resilience; DOE energy efficiency programs, including building efficiency initiatives and the LIT Act; permitting reform; improvements to federal contracting related to energy efficiency programs; and broader national energy strategy. Advocacy also included legislation related to grid modernization, transmission capacity, consumer appliance standards, and energy infrastructure, including the SECURE Grid Act (H.R. 7257), High-Capacity Grid Act (H.R. 6633), including Section 2 relating to best-available transmission conductor standards, the Don't Mess with My Home Appliances Act (H.R. 4626), the SPEED Act (H.R. 4774), and the REWIRE Act (S. 3947), including Section 2 (Definitions).

Tax policy issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including implementation of the Prohibited Foreign Entity (PFE) provisions under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA); expansion of the Section 45X Advanced Manufacturing Production Tax Credit to additional electrical products, including transformers, switchgear, and copper-related components; tax incentives to support domestic critical mineral and magnet production; tax policies promoting energy efficiency through the deployment of NEMA member products; the CIRCUIT Act (S. 448/H.R. 4128); the COPPER Act (H.R. 8277); and tax provisions considered as part of budget reconciliation legislation. Advocacy focused on strengthening domestic manufacturing, supply chain resilience, energy security, and investment in U.S. production and infrastructure.

Transportation, infrastructure, and domestic manufacturing policy issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including surface transportation reauthorization, support for the BUILD America 250 Act (H.R. 8870) and the Build American Efficiency Act (H.R. 9194), recognition of NEMAs "Make It American" program as an industry resource, support for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program, deployment of proven safety and mobility technologies, and policies to strengthen domestic manufacturing and supply chain resilience.

Trade, supply chain, and critical infrastructure policy issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including provisions of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 (H.R. 8800) and the Widespread Information Management for the Welfare of Infrastructure and Government (WIMWIG) Act amendment. Advocacy also focused on funding for U.S. Customs and Border Protections Office of Trade to support the efficient movement of legitimate goods across U.S. borders, strengthen supply chain resilience, and facilitate lawful international trade.

Trade, tariff, and North American manufacturing policy issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including Section 232 and Section 301 tariffs, implementation and enforcement of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA), and measures affecting key manufacturing inputs and supply chains. Advocacy also focused on NEMA proposals to use tariff and trade policy to strengthen domestic manufacturing, support energy infrastructure development, enhance supply chain resilience, and advance U.S. energy and industrial policy objectives.

Surface transportation reauthorization and infrastructure policy, including continued funding for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program, recognition of private-sector Buy America, Build America (BABA) compliance and certification resources, including NEMA's Make It American program, and policies supporting domestic manufacturing, supply chain resilience, and deployment of transportation and electrical infrastructure technologies.

Medicare reimbursement and healthcare payment policy issues affecting medical imaging and radiopharmaceutical technologies, including Average Sales Price (ASP) reporting requirements for radiopharmaceuticals under Medicare Part B.

Data privacy and cybersecurity legislation affecting manufacturers and connected products, including federal data privacy standards, preemption of state privacy laws, and enforcement authorities. Advocacy focused on provisions of the SECURE Data Act (H.R. 8413) relating to federal preemption and enforcement and their potential impact on the electrical manufacturing industry.

Communications policy issues affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including opposition to the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) NextNav spectrum reallocation proposal due to concerns regarding potential interference with and disruption of devices and technologies manufactured by NEMA members.

Energy workforce development and veterans employment policy, including the Veterans Energy Transition Act (H.R. 4105).

Surface transportation and infrastructure policy affecting the electrical manufacturing industry, including the reauthorization of federal surface transportation programs; support for continued funding of the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program; recognition of private-sector Buy America, Build America (BABA) compliance and certification resources, including NEMA's "Make It American" program; and legislation supporting domestic manufacturing and infrastructure investment, including the BUILD America 250 Act (H.R. 8807). Advocacy focused on policies to strengthen domestic manufacturing, supply chain resilience, transportation infrastructure investment, and deployment of electrical and transportation technologies.
