Many public school buildings are decades old, in need of major repair or replacement, and often lack modern infrastructure needed for 21st-century learning (such as reliable broadband, good air quality, and energy efficiency). Congress should invest in rebuilding America's schools.
In support of The Faster Labor Contracts Act (S. 844, H.R. 5408) The Faster Labor Contracts Act (FLCA)is a bipartisan bill intended to speed up first-contract negotiations between newly unionized workers and employers. It mandates strict timelines: bargaining must start within 10 days of a request, with mandatory mediation after 90 days and binding arbitration if no agreement is reached within 120 day Heat Standard - Educated offices on the need for a an OSHA proposed a comprehensive heat standard. Registered Apprenticeship Programs - Educated offices on the need to protect Federally Registered Apprenticeship programs in the construction industry.
In support of Green New Deal for Public Housing Act (H.R. 7782 & S. 4012) The bill would make a major federal investment in modernizing and rehabilitating public housing nationwide. It would fund energy-efficiency improvements, building electrification, clean-energy infrastructure, water-quality upgrades, and repairs to deteriorating public housing while creating workforce-development and employment opportunities. It also includes protections for residents displaced during renovations, promotes hiring public-housing residents and resident-owned businesses, and seeks to repeal the Faircloth Amendment, which currently limits HUD-funded construction of additional public housing units.
