Agriculture

IFB continues to lobby for the passage of a permanent 5-year farm bill. This is to include changes that accurately reflect the needs of Illinois Farmers. We also support continued crop insurance programs, disaster relief when needed, conservation programs to preserve farming soil. Prevent plant buy up coverage. Supported the Buy American Cotton Act. Support disaster relief for farmers.

Taxation/Internal Revenue Code

support a 45z tax credit to benefit farmers.

Trade (domestic/foreign)

Support trade agreements (United States, Mexico, Canada Agreement - USMCA). IFB advocated to keep the agreement and work through the 2026 review process. IFB supports keeping the exemptions on tariffs for agriculture products and commodities. Worked on getting new trade deals done. IFB worked on sharing the importance of trade deals for agriculture.

Budget/Appropriations

Support funding for lock and dams 25 in IL.

Transportation

Worked on supporting Water Resource Development Act to help inland water ways rehab projects. Seeking a review of the impacts of the proposed Rail merger.

Labor Issues/Antitrust/Workplace

Support a workable H-2A system.

Fuel/Gas/Oil

Supported year round E-15. Support RVO blending level increases.
