Coverage for direct patient care services of qualified pharmacists under Medicare and other public health programs.
Promote enhanced quality, structure and information dissemination concerning medication therapy management services (MTMS) under Medicare Part D.
Promote greater medication safety and more appropriate medication use through more active involvement of pharmacists in patient care.
Seek restoration of Medicare funding for specialized residency training under Medicare prospective payment rules. Seek pharmacist participation in National Health Service Corps (NHSC) loan repayment programs. Support development of inter-professional health education programs by working with Congress to make programs authorized under Title VII of the Public Health Service Act a significant aspect of comprehensive health professions education.
Focus interactions with the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) on the issue of Quality of Medication Therapy Management Services delivered programs authorized by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA PL 111-148) and Medicare Part D plans.
