H.R. 7890 The Science of Reading Act (Support) : A bill that bans three cueing as an allowable use in the Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grants. Worked with the House of Representatives and the Senate on supporting the bill. S.4328/ H.R. 7082, the Fostering Learning and Excellence in Charter Schools (FLEX) Act (Support): A bill that would create more flexibilities for public charter schools receiving the Charter Schools Program Competitive Grant funding. Worked with the House of Representatives and the Senate on supporting the bill. H.R. 7086, the Equitable Access to School Facilities Act (Support): A bill that takes an important step toward addressing one of the most persistent barriers facing charter schools and the families they serve: inequitable access to safe and affordable school facilities. This legislation helps to ensure that charter schools, particularly those serving low-income and rural communities, can focus resources on students rather than diverting funds to facilities costs. S.4872 Keep Kids in School Act (Support): A bill to establish a competitive grant program for states to confront issues of chronic absenteeism. Worked with the House of Representatives and the Senate on supporting the bill. Food Security related bills: H.R. 8728 Feed Our Kids Act (Support): provides free daily breakfast, lunch, and after-school snacks to all public K-12 students nationwide.
Technology related bills: S.30652 Guard Act (Support) : A bill that would regulate, set age restrictions and disclosure requirements for chat bots. Worked with the House of Representatives and the Senate on supporting the bill. H.R. 7757 The Kids Internet and Digital Safety (KIDS) Act (Oppose): A bill that sets online safeguards, parental control requirements, and rules for AI chatbots interacting with children, the duty of care provision was taken out of the bill, which is why we opposed it. Worked with the House of Representatives and the Senate on opposing the bill.
