JWI staff provided technical feedback on a bill to prohibit respondents to final dating violence protective orders and stalking misdemeanants from possessing, receiving, shipping, or transporting firearms. JWI also submitted a letter on behalf of the National Task Force to End Sexual and Domestic Violence to the House Judiciary Committee in opposition to H.R.38, federally mandated concealed carry reciprocity. JWI is working with lawmakers to introduce a bill to notify victims when a domestic abuser fails a firearms background check.

Law Enforcement/Crime/Criminal Justice

JWI is asking members of Congress support of the Crime Victims Fund Stabilization Act to increase deposits into the Crime Victims Fund. The CVF funds formula grants to states to serve crime victims. JWI also supported an anomaly in the continuing resolution to restore the VOCA disbursement to FY'23 levels.
