This bill would amend the law governing offshore oil and gas operations to establish standards that operators must meet to be considered fit to operate. It would also require offshore oil and gas companies to set aside money in escrow accounts to pay for decommissioning, the process of shutting down and cleaning up offshore facilities when operations end. The bill was introduced in the Senate and referred to the Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
