Have a question about what this bill does? Ask in plain English; the answer is drawn from the bill's actual text and official record, and it'll tell you when something isn't in the text rather than guess.
Let independent musicians negotiate together with major music platforms.
This bill would allow independent music creators who own their work to join together and negotiate as a group with large online platforms about how their music gets distributed and on what terms. Currently, individual musicians typically have little bargaining power when dealing with dominant streaming or distribution services. The bill aims to give them more leverage by permitting collective negotiation. It was referred to the House Judiciary Committee and has not yet advanced further.
