Have a question about what this bill does? Ask in plain English; the answer is drawn from the bill's actual text and official record, and it'll tell you when something isn't in the text rather than guess.
Comprehensive ethics and governance reforms for federal officials and elections.
This bill would impose multiple restrictions and changes across federal government. It would ban stock trading and prediction market participation for the President, Vice President, and Congress members. It would suspend pay for Congress members during government shutdowns and establish term limits for both Congress and the Supreme Court. The bill would also reform presidential pardon power, revoke the statute of limitations for the President and Vice President, strengthen rules against conflicts of interest, overturn the Citizens United court decision, ban dark money and corporate political action committees, ban partisan gerrymandering, restrict voter suppression, and limit government pensions for those convicted of felonies or sued by the President. The bill was referred to multiple House committees in the 119th Congress.
Referred to the Committee on the Judiciary, and in addition to the Committees on Oversight and Government Reform, House Administration, Ways and Means, and Rules, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
