Require heart screening tests for high school athletes before competition.
This bill would require local school districts that receive certain federal funding to give students in grades 9 through 12 an electrocardiogram (a test that records heart electrical activity) and an echocardiogram (an ultrasound of the heart) before they can participate in athletic contests for the first time. The bill is currently in the House Committee on Education and Workforce.
