This resolution calls on the Taliban to immediately and unconditionally release Mahmood Habibi and all other U.S. detainees in Afghanistan. It also calls on the Taliban to respect Mahmood Habibi's human rights and to provide full, unfettered, and consistent health and safety visits to him while in detention. Mr. Habibi is an American citizen and Afghan native who was the head of the Afghanistan civil aviation authority prior to his detention by the Taliban on August 10, 2022.
