Fostering Resource Efficiency in Education by Zero Employment Act or the FREEZE Act
This bill prohibits the Department of Education (ED) from making a new appointment to an existing position or establishing any new positions. The bill also permanently rescinds all unobligated funds that were provided to ED for salaries and expense and are not required to cover the salary or expenses of ED's employees as of the date of the bill's enactment.
Referred to the Committee on Education and the Workforce, and in addition to the Committee on Appropriations, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
