This bill establishes certain resources for placing social workers in public libraries to assist patrons with accessing health, nutrition, and other social services.
Specifically, the Department of Education (ED) must award competitive grants to institutions of higher education (IHEs) with an accredited school of social work to support the placement of students and licensed professional social workers in public libraries.
Additionally, ED must establish a center to provide resources and technical assistance to states, local governments, Indian tribes, IHEs, and others related to hiring and retaining social workers in libraries.
