Dorothy I. Height and Whitney M. Young Jr., Social Work Reinvestment Act

This bill directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to establish the Social Work Reinvestment Commission to provide independent counsel to Congress and HHS on policy issues related to recruitment, retention, research, and reinvestment in the profession of social work.

In addition, HHS shall award specified grants to support grantees in carrying out workplace improvement programs to address concerns related to the social work profession.

HHS shall also award specified grants to support: (1) postdoctoral research in social work, (2) the recruitment and education of social work students in advanced degree programs and the professional development of social work faculty, and (3) the testing and replication of effective social work interventions.

HHS must contract with a national social work entity to serve as a coordinating center and clearinghouse.

In addition, HHS must develop and issue public service announcements that advertise and promote the social work profession.
