HHS Data Protection Act
This bill amends the Public Health Service Act to create the position of Chief Information Security Officer of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and transfer to this position the functions, personnel, assets, and liabilities of the Chief Information Security Officer in the Office of the Chief Information Officer of HHS. The Chief Information Security Officer is appointed by the President.
HHS must report on the Chief Information Security Officer's plan to oversee and coordinate information security programs and the steps being taken in each division to implement the plan.
