Plain-English summary
Companion Disaster Assistance Program Act of 2002 (sic) - Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to provide emergency financial assistance to agricultural producers who have incurred qualifying 2001 or 2002 crop losses due to weather or related conditions. Requires a producer with qualifying losses in both years to elect to receive payments in either, but not both, of such years.
States that: (1) a producer may not receive assistance for losses to more than one 2001 crop or 2002 crop on the same acreage unless there is an established practice of planting two or more crops for harvest on such acreage in the same crop year; and (2) the Secretary shall give a producer an opportunity to designate the 2001 or 2002 crop for which the producer requests assistance.
