Plain-English summary
Securities and Exchange Commission Authorization Act of 1987 - Amends the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to authorize appropriations for the Securities and Exchange Commission for FY 1988 through 1990. Authorizes additional funds to be appropriated to the Commission for the purpose of establishing and operating the electronic data gathering, analysis, and retrieval ("EDGAR") system. Directs the Commission to submit reports to specified congressional committees on the establishment and operation of the EDGAR system. Prohibits the expenditure of appropriated funds for salaries or expenses of the Directorate of Economic and Policy Analysis.
