Advocated for a more balanced, humane immigration system that is firm, fair, and free from cruelty, including for an end to the militarization of American cities and stronger civil rights protections. Efforts also focused on ensuring robust funding for the Citizenship and Assimilation Grant Program, protecting immigrant servicemembers, and advancing comprehensive reform for long-term undocumented residents.
Promoted tax policies that ensure mixed-status families are not excluded from critical benefits and that the tax code reflects the realities of all American households.
Supported key programs benefiting Latino families in the FY2026 appropriations process - including Title III English Learner programs, Housing Counseling, Citizenship Grants, the CDFI Fund, WIOA workforce training, and WIC.
Supported policies that expand financial inclusion and build wealth in Latino communities, including efforts to strengthen the CDFI Fund, protect the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), and establish a federal financial coaching program that benefits working families.
Through the HOME Initiative, advocated for policies that expand homeownership opportunities, increase access to housing counseling services, and promote affordable housing investments that close the Latino wealth gap and strengthen community-based organizations.
Promoted nutrition access for all American families, advocating for strong funding for WIC and SNAP, including efforts to extend food assistance to the people of Puerto Rico.
Advocated for the protection and expansion of health care programs that benefit Hispanic working families, including the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid, while advancing policies to improve mental health access, paid family leave, and workplace protections that support family well-being.
Advanced equal access to education from early childhood through higher education. We supported strong funding for Hispanic-Serving Institutions, English Language Acquisition programs, and student success initiatives, while promoting reforms that expand opportunity and close achievement gaps for Latino learners.
