TFB advocated to reform the agricultural guest worker program for farmers and ranchers. TFB is seeking comprehensive reform to our agricultural guest worker program, known as H-2A. TFB is working to address issues in the legislation to ensure the bill addresses the needs of producers.
TFB advocated for FY2026 appropriations to provide critical funding to combat the New World Screwworm and to continue pressing the urgency of controlling the NWS in Mexico to keep it out of the U.S.
1. TFB advocated for passage of H.R. 7567, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026 to finish the farm bill. 2. TFB expressed the dire need for Congress to complete a new farm bill. TFB expressed the provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBB) are positive, but the rest of the farm bill provisions must be reauthorized. 3. TFB asked Congressional members to vote YES on the ESA Amendments Act of 2025 to incentivize conservation on private lands through Conservation Benefit Plans and help with overly burdensome ESA listing regulations. 4. TFB lobbied Congress to support the Buy American Cotton Act (BACA). TFB has been urging lawmakers to co-sponsor the legislation. The bill would provide a tax incentive to retailers who buy American cotton for their products.
TFB lobbied lawmakers to provide additional economic assistance for farmers and ranchers who are suffering through the farm economic downturn. TFB is urging lawmakers to include additional funding in the next funding vehicle.
1. TFB advocated for expanded markets for commodity products through opening more international trade opportunities. We expressed how tariffs are impacting farmers and ranchers but explained how holding other counties accountable is something TFB members feel strongly about. 2. TFB discussed the importance of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada agreement (USMCA) and that we must ensure provisions of the agreement are enforced as the trade deal is reviewed over 2026. TFB also urged USTR and Congressional leaders to include provisions to enforce the 1944 U.S-Mexico Water Treaty in the USMCA.
TFB lobbied for the Securing Agricultures Workforce Act by GT Thompson. The bill would streamline the H-2A program by cutting red tape, while in turn helping solve our nations ag labor crisis.
