UNIDOSUS (FKA NATIONAL COUNCIL OF LA RAZA)

Advocated for immigration policies that are constitutional, accountable, and nondiscriminatory. Opposed provisions in budget reconciliation and appropriations legislation that would substantially expand immigration detention and enforcement without corresponding civil-rights protections. Supported enforceable Department of Homeland Security safeguards related to judicial warrants, sensitive locations, officer identification, body-worn cameras, due process, detention conditions, and congressional oversight of enforcement activities.

Supported the Improving Access to Financial Coaching Act of 2026, which would establish and fund community-based financial coaching services for underserved households. Opposed the Earned Wage Access Consumer Protection Act because of concerns regarding consumer protections, federal preemption of stronger state standards, and the treatment of earned-wage-access products under federal lending laws. Advocated more broadly for access to safe and affordable financial products, credit-building opportunities, and strong consumer protections.

Advocated for federal policies and appropriations that expand the supply and preservation of affordable housing, sustain housing-counseling services, and improve access to homeownership, including the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act.

Opposed reductions to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Farm Bill and other legislative proposals. Advocated for adequate fiscal year 2027 funding for SNAP administration and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).

Advocated for robust funding for federal education and workforce-development programs, including services for English learners, job training, and programs authorized under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

Advocated for protections against unlawful government surveillance and the improper collection, use, or sharing of sensitive personal information for immigration-enforcement purposes. Raised concerns regarding interagency access to personal data and supported stronger privacy protections, transparency requirements, and congressional oversight.

Engaged Congress on fiscal year 2027 appropriations and budget reconciliation legislation affecting health coverage, nutrition assistance, housing, education, workforce development, civil rights, and immigration enforcement. Supported continued federal investment in programs serving working families and opposed provisions that would reduce access to essential services or expand enforcement activities without adequate accountability and civil-liberties protections.

Advocated for reducing health coverage enrollment and renewal burdens, expanding streamlined and automatic eligibility processes, and preserving affordable coverage for low-income and underserved communities. Also opposed proposals related to silver loading and cost-sharing reduction repayments that could increase premiums and reduce access to affordable coverage.
