Limit congressional leaders to 12 years of service in either chamber.
This bill would prevent a member of Congress from serving as chair or ranking minority member of a House or Senate committee if they have already served 12 years in either chamber. The bill was introduced by Representative Chip Roy of Texas and is currently under review by the House Administration Committee, along with the Oversight and Government Reform Committee and the Rules Committee.
Referred to the Committee on House Administration, and in addition to the Committees on Oversight and Government Reform, and Rules, for a period to be subsequently determined by the Speaker, in each case for consideration of such provisions as fall within the jurisdiction of the committee concerned.
