Blocking Rioters and Insurrectionists from our Cities to Keep us Safe Act of 2020 or the BRICKS Act of 2020

This bill increases the penalties for rioting.

First, the bill increases from 5 to 10 years the maximum prison term for crossing state lines or using interstate facilities for the purpose of rioting.

It also imposes an enhanced penalty for an individual who commits such an offense related to rioting and those actions (1) result in serious bodily injury or death; (2) include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire; or (3) include kidnapping, attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or attempt to kill.
