This bill directs the Federal Trade Commission to establish certain privacy protections for customers of online edge providers (e.g., search engines, streaming services, and social-media platforms), including by requiring such providers to
- notify customers about the collection, use, and sharing of personal information;
- obtain opt-in consent to use, share, or sell customers' personal information;
- develop certain data-security practices; and
- notify customers in the event of a security breach.
