Protecting Our Communities and Rights Act of 2018

This bill authorizes state grants to implement laws that permit courts to issue extreme risk protection orders. An extreme risk protection order is a state court order that prohibits an individual from purchasing, possessing, or receiving a firearm.

Additionally, the bill expands the categories of persons who are prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm or ammunition. Specifically, it adds a new category of prohibited persons—persons who are subject to a court order that restrains them from possessing a firearm.
