Office of Rural Telecommunications Act

This bill requires the Federal Communications Commission to establish the Office of Rural Telecommunications, whose duties shall include:

  • coordinating with the Rural Utilities Service and the National Telecommunications and Information Administration to ensure the success of initiatives and programs,
  • coordinating with the Universal Service Administrative Company to maintain information regarding Connect American Fund programs that deploy rural broadband,
  • coordinating with agencies to remove barriers to rural broadband deployment, and
  • measuring broadband adoption rates in rural areas.
