Challenges & Prizes for Climate Act of 2018

This bill requires the Department of Energy to establish a Climate Solutions Challenges program for carrying out competitions that award cash and other incentives for climate and energy solutions, such as:

  • capturing carbon and converting the carbon into a beneficial use,
  • achieving transformative increases in energy efficiency,
  • achieving implementation or grid integration of advanced energy storage technology,
  • providing approaches to mitigating or adapting to the effects of climate change, and
  • providing data analytics on the climate and related phenomena.
