Plain-English summary
Amends the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act with regards to a program under the Act under which individuals who have lived or worked near public lands are considered for selection for positions within public lands. Declares that if an employee in such program dies in the performance of any assigned duties on or after October 1, 2002, the Secretary of the Interior may: (1) pay reasonable expenses for the transportation of the remains to a location in Alaska which is selected by the surviving head of household of the deceased employee; and (2) pay reasonable expenses for transporting immediate family members to a community in the State of Alaska which is selected by the surviving head of household.
