 Plain-English summary Congressional Research Service

Military Family Preservation Act of 1991 - Directs the Secretary of Defense to prescribe regulations which prohibit the stationing of a member of the armed forces who is solely responsible for his or her dependents (or who together with a spouse also in the armed forces is solely responsible for such dependents) at a location at which facilities for dependents of such member are not reasonably available.

Requires the Secretary of the military department concerned to provide assistance to a member and his or her family to develop alternative plans for the care of dependents when such member is to be stationed at a location lacking adequate dependent care facilities.
