Research on Alzheimer's Disease and Independence For Older Americans Act of 1990
Research on Alzheimer's Disease and Independence For Older Americans Act of 1990 - Title I: Research Concerning Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders - Amends the Public Health Service Act to require the Director of the National Institutes of Health to: (1) award Core Center Grants to university medical centers for multidisciplinary research on Alzheimer's disease and to encourage investigators to enter into the Alzheimer's research field; and (2) enter into grants, contracts, or cooperative agreements with Alzheimers's Disease Research Centers, or entities receiving Core Center Grants, for treatment service and research at Satellite Clinics.
Authorizes appropriations.
Title II: Extension of Program Regarding Alzheimer's Disease - Increases the number of mandated Alzheimer's demonstration projects to between eight and 15 (currently, between three and five). Modifies the purpose of the projects to include coordinating the development and operation by (currently, with) public and private organizations of specified services. Authorizes appropriations.
Title III: Task Force on Aging Research - Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to establish the Task Force on Aging Research to coordinate Federally-supported aging research. Authorizes appropriations.
Title IV: Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Centers - Requires the Director of the National Institute on Aging to enter into cooperative agreements and make grants for at least ten comprehensive centers of excellence, to be known as the Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Centers, for research, training, demonstration, and dissemination of information relating to the independence of older Americans. Authorizes appropriations.
